Why should I get a resale inspection?
Septic systems can require unexpected and costly repairs—especially when routine maintenance has been overlooked. Homeowners who choose to skip a resale inspection often risk inheriting a failing or deteriorating system, which can lead to significant expenses down the road.
Is having the tank pumped every 3-5 years acceptable?
While we encourage regular pumping, it is not a fix-all solution and does NOT replace a resale inspection. The 30-point checklist completed during a routine septic pumping also cannot be used for resale purposes.
What is a hydraulic load test and why do I need one?
A hydraulic load test is used to determine if a septic system’s absorption area can handle a specified daily volume of wastewater. If the home has been occupied within 7 days of the inspection, a HLT is not needed. If the property has been vacant for more than 7 days, one will be needed per PSMA standards.
